On Holy Wednesday we remember the painful moment when Judas chose to betray Jesus.
It’s a stark reminder that human choices can wound deeply — yet even here, Jesus continues forward in love.
Holy Wednesday invites us to reflect on our own choices, not by comparing ourselves to Judas, but by noticing how Jesus remains faithful in every circumstance.
Judas’ decision wasn’t sudden. It grew in the quiet places of disappointment, confusion, and unmet expectations.
And that’s what makes Holy Wednesday so honest. It shows us that:
We all make choices that fall short of who we want to be.
We all know what it is to act from fear, frustration, or woundedness.
We all carry moments we wish we could rewrite.
Holy Wednesday doesn’t ask us to judge Judas. It invites us to recognise ourselves.
And Yet—Jesus Keeps Moving Forward in Love
Even as betrayal takes shape, Jesus does not turn back. He keeps teaching. He keeps loving. He keeps walking toward the cross with a heart set on mercy.
The contrast is striking: Human failure on one side, divine faithfulness on the other.
Where Holy Tuesday invited us to listen, Holy Wednesday invites us to look honestly at our own choices—and then to look again at the grace that meets us there.
A Reflection for Today
You might pause and ask yourself:
Where am I tempted to turn away from what I know is good?
Where have my choices been shaped by fear or disappointment?
And where might Jesus be offering me grace, even in my darkest moment?
Holy Wednesday reminds us that failure is never the end of the story.
Jesus keeps moving forward in love—toward the cross, toward redemption, toward us.
And that love is strong enough to meet us in our worst moments and lead us into better ones.
