Faith and Calling
My name is Mary Rathbone, and I am a Lay Reader in the Church of England.
My life has been shaped by faith, resilience, and hope in Jesus, and I’ve found that even the hardest times can be educational and reveal glimpses of God’s presence.
This blog is my way of sharing the spiritual truths I have learned during a lifelong search for answers.
Ministry and Outreach
I trained at the Diocese Theological College for three years before being licensed by the Bishop of St Albans to preach, teach, and lead worship.
Ministerial work consistently deepens my understanding of scripture, which in turn strengthens my desire to share this with others.
Why I Blog
This blog is for anyone seeking answers to life’s difficult questions, whether new to faith or not.
I use hymns, scripture, nature imagery, and other visual aids to help bring the hope that Jesus offers alive today.
My aim is to help readers see that this is not idealistic thinking—it is a practical, sustaining, and enriching truth for each one of us.
What Inspires Me
I draw inspiration from the natural world, the quiet rhythm of everyday life, and the simple pleasure of observing how people interact with each other.
These influences help shape my writing and often remind me that spiritual truths are revealed in ordinary moments, as much as in extraordinary ones.
Prepared by Experience
For many years, I worked in marketing at IBM and later ran my own consultancy. The communication and IT skills I developed then help me share faith here in ways, I hope, are clear and relatable.
