The Joyful News: He Is Risen!
People loved Jesus very much and followed him everywhere. But one sad day, something terrible happened.
Jesus was put on a big wooden cross and died. His friends were heartbroken and put his body in a special tomb.
The next day, which was Sunday, some women who loved Jesus went to the tomb. They wanted to put sweet-smelling perfumes on his body.
But when they got there, they saw something amazing!
The big rock that covered the tomb had been rolled away, and Jesus was not inside.
Instead, there were two angels who said, “He is not here; he has risen, just like he promised!”
Jesus had come back to life!
His friends were so surprised and happy. They ran to tell everyone the good news.
But some people didn’t believe them. They thought it was nonsense.
Even Peter, one of Jesus’s closest friends, went to the tomb to see for himself.
On the road to a town called Emmaus, two other friends were feeling sad.
Suddenly, Jesus appeared and walked with them, but they didn’t recognize him at first.
It took a while, but then they realized it was Jesus! They were so excited that they ran back to Jerusalem to tell everyone.
When they got there, Jesus appeared again. His friends were scared because they thought he was a ghost.
But Jesus showed them his hands and feet, where he had been nailed to the cross.
It was really him! He said, “Peace be with you.”
And that’s how the joyful news spread: Jesus was alive!
He had risen from the dead, just like he said he would.
