6-9 You lazy fool, look at an ant.

    Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two.
Nobody has to tell it what to do.
    All summer it stores up food;
    at harvest it stockpiles provisions.
So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing?

    How long before you get out of bed?  Proverbs 6:6-9 The Message

Ants might not be everyone’s favourite insect, but they have a lot to teach us in building the Kingdom of Heaven, or anything else in our lives.

King Solomon used the humble ant to advise his son on how to be industrious because ants are;

Incredibly hard-working and never lazy.
Have a can-do attitude and do not need to be told what to do as they work together for the common good.
Naturally know how to plan ahead and store the food in times of plenty.
Set goals and work together as a team to achieve them.

The next time you encounter some ants this summer, why not observe the fascinating comradery they exhibit as they work to store up provisions for winter and wonder at how marvelous all God’s creation is?
